Akher Zapheer – Arba3 Sneen اخر زفير – أربع سنين

Akher Zapheer just release a video for “Arba3 Sneen”, one of the tracks on their debut album “Converse Culture”:

You might remember my review of their first single, “Akhero Lahen Hazeen“, where I was particularly touched by how Ammani everything was. This video does not have as many familiar scenes, but that makes you appreciate the music so much more.

What I enjoy about this particular track is that it isn’t so polished. There’s a seething intensity quietly boiling by pain so naked and personal. All this is exacerbated by beautiful dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard.

“Arba3 Sneen” is a great sampler from “Converse Culture”, an album that is an excavation of loneliness, melancholy, and desperation. You can hear the tracks of the album on Akher Zapheer’s YouTube page.

These are dark and anxious waters.

Thank you so much Roba for keeping me updated with the latest in alternative Arabic / Jordanian music. I remember the first time I heard Akhero Lahen Hazeen, I was amazed by this new voice.

This track is amazing and they are sounding lots like Muse in this track.

    Have a great 2013 ahead!

Roba, it’s always a joy to read your blog posts, you’re always on point with your thoughts & a person can almost always relate. I agree with you on Akher Zapheer’s posts, particularly Akherto Lahen Hazeen, listening to it takes me to the streets of Amman, which always gives me a sense of comfortness. Because although I’m living in California, I feel that I am in Jordan within seconds of listening and I no longer feel the distance. As for Arba3 Sneen, I loved it & loved the video, much different than their previous one, but all in all it was beautiful. Akher Zapheer gave a whole new meaning to Arabic Alternative music, I wasn’t too familiar with this genre until I listened to their music, they instantly captured my heart & ears. lol
Wishing you a wonderful year ahead, looking forward to reading more of your posts. :)
