Reading up on Internet cats on Wired

I just read over 6,500 words on Internet cats. And I really enjoyed every word of those 6,500 words.
So, yes.
If there is anything you should read today, then make it this article. It’s an absolutely insane account of a world where anonymous cats have publicists, where “I Can Has Cheezburger?” started a whole industry, and where Internet anonymity in Japan can be explained perfectly logically through the Internet cat as a crucial proxy to island claustrophobia.
I know. It’s 6,500 words of pure WTF.
Also, did you know that there are cat cafes in Japan? As in, a cafe you go to for the sole purpose of petting a cat?
Finally, here’s a video mentioned in the article, and this song is actually sung by cats. Very famous cats. They got the girls later because they wanted to make them famous (the girls). They were hoping the cat’s fame would rub of on the band but it didn’t. The cats are still famous. The girls have disappeared.
You really must read this article.
