Things I don’t understand: tattooed eyebrows

The trend of tattooed eyebrows has really been getting on my nerves lately. It’s always been around, but I’ve been seeing too many salon ads advertising this hideousness. So…

Basically, what young women in the Arab world are doing is removing their entire eyebrows and replacing them with a tattoo. The tattoo is usually a straight line, half a circle, or a deformed arch. Most of the time, the color of the tattoo is either reddish or really dark black, thus contrasting greatly.

Case in point, images derived by Googling “Arab Celebrity”:

The arch from hell:

The straight lines:

The half circle:

Ladies:
1. Eyebrows are cool. They are a part of your face. Please don’t remove them.
2. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CRAZY MAKE UP.
3. Here is how to determine the perfect shape for your eyebrows:

I’m going to have nightmares for a month after seeing this shit.

You really need to put warning labels on this stuff for graphic horror.

God! I always wondered why, when models in the rest of the world strive for the natural look, girls here strive for clown chic? But I never knew the eyebrows were tatooed. UGH!

Oh, one more thing – what is it with wearing a horrendously dark lip liner around only lightly tinted lip gloss? (Only one of these pictures leans that way, but I’m talking in general.) Someone needs to tell these women that they look like fools when they do that.

Emi, that’s also a tattoo outline by the way. I don’t get it either.

I HEAR YA!!!! Mainly to my Lebanese friends out there, gods know I love you to death, but *please* stop doing that horrendous unnatural thing to yourselves. One doesn’t have to have the perfect eyes/lips/eyebrows/nails, just work with what you have in a natural tasteful way, khalass!
How & why on earth did this end up being considered the norm over there?!

Tattooed eyebrows are better than no eyebrows

That is pretty hideous. I don’t get it. And not quite the same, but I generally don’t get the whole plastic surgery industry. A lot of the time whatever was done makes whatever they thought wasn’t right now truly look a little weird. Best to just go with what you got. I mean, it’s their life, so whatever.

besera7a, last night I was thinking of getting my eyebrows tattooed. but not like this y3ani, just like a background color on my natural eyebrows. The reason is very simple: I’m so clumsy when it comes to doing my eyebrows. I always tend to mess the design of my eyebrow up. When I go to the salon for an ultimate rescue, I always get the question: Poor thing, who ruined your eyebrows like this? hehehe :$

A few years ago I was travelling trough Syria. I saw a lot of tattooed eyebrows there… It was always the first thing I noticed when I was talking with a woman… and yes, hideous is the correct word for it I’m afraid…

Well, frankly it should depend on the person and done in a tasteful manner. In my family, the women on my mothers side, have all lost their eyebrows by their mid 20′s and I too have lost half of both my brows. My mom over a year ago and thru much debating felt like an alien and very uncomfortable spending hours trying to draw on her eyebrows and make them look as natural and even as possible but usually would just cry over the frustration. So her and my father agreed to look into getting her eyebrows tattooed on. I am so happy for her that now she feels comfortable and doesn’t have to spend hours fretting over looking like an alien and her brows look great. I am actually about to get mine done this week because of the stress not having eyebrows cause.
So, before just thinking someone is going for perfection and trying to stand out; think possibly its beneficial to them as long as their happy.

I am a man and I totally agree. Tatoo eyebrows specially when removing the whole eyebrow is INSANE yet UGLY!

Most of those weren’t even pictured of tatooed eyebrows….they’re just shaved and then drawn on with pencil.  Just so you are aware, you can have incredibly realistic eyebrows tattooed on by a cosmetic surgeon, and this is done because some of us do not HAVE eyebrows, like myself.  Mine just will not grow in past halfway…and they’ve always been like that.  Anyway, just wanted to say that not ALL tatooed eyebrows look fake, and that most women don’t shave their eyebrows off in order to get fake looking ones….they are mostly women with cancer or allopecia or extremely sparse or blonde eyebrows that want to look more normal.
