Amman Bookshops

I spent the past several minutes looking for phone numbers of some of the Amman bookshops I like, looking for a book that I ended up not finding. Anyway, I thought I’d do a public service for all the googlers out there and list their numbers in one place, in case anyone needs them.

1. Readers Bookshop. Cosmo, 7th Circle. 06-582-8488.
2. Prime Megastore Bookshop. Barakeh Mall, Barakah Mall, Sweifyeh. 06-581-1204.
3. Jabal Tareq Bookshop. Mecca Mall, Khalda. 06-551-4679.
4. The Good Bookshop. Jabal Amman. 06-461-3939.
5. Titles Bookshop. Abdoun. 06-592-4130.

    Hi Roba,
Can I help you find the book your looking for here in the US? Let me know! :)

    Thx!!

  • Nick

    is Books@Cafe still open?

  • http://andfaraway.net Roba

Ziad, that is really sweet :) I’m afraid its too silly a book to really bother about, I was alreay considering ordering it off Amazon but then I decided my brother will kick my ass if I used his account, cause the book is so lame. Anyway, fortunately for me, Readers promised they’ll get it soon :) Thanks for the offer!

Nick, it is, but I don’t really think of them as much of a bookshop… They still have a few copies of “Napster for Dummies” :)

ROOBEEEEE! I buy loads of books from the University Bookshop on Gardens Street, I’ve been going there since I was 12 I think, and the lady who works there, Lina, is willing to order pretty much any book in the world for you :D

  • Ohoud

Try finding it at Albustan Bookshop in Shmeisani

Roba I still think Book@ is a good book shop since they get all the new best sellers before any other book shop, however, their prices are ridiculously expensive compared to the other book shops.
my favorites are readers and prime, and I wish I could buy books from abu 3ali someday!

The problem with our bookshops are monitored O,O
which makes us FREE to not read anything we want

  • http://andfaraway.net Roba

Hal, but it’s SO OUT OF THE WAY :( I guess I’ll try it out though. What’s the lady called?

Ohoud, ooh, that’s a good idea. I forgot about that bookshop :) We used to go there when we were kids.

    Ziad, doesn’t she always? :)

Naser, Abu Ali is awesome. But not really my kind of books… I’m a little more… low culture :)

Mousa, thanks for their number, but they only have children’s books right?

Bardees, it is a good bookshop, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there :) You know? If I’m passing, I’ll stop by. If I need a book, I’ll go to Prime or Readers. Are Books still Aramex Media?

Faris, you can always download what you need online, or get them through Amazon. I doubt anyone checks titles.

Check this very efficient website for buying books… they got FREE Delivery worldwide… I have tried it several times…

@ Roba “Faris, you can always download what you need online, or get them through Amazon. I doubt anyone checks titles.”

Well sometimes the customs act like smart *** and put the book on hold to be reviewed which would takes several weeks…blah

  • http://andfaraway.net Roba

Super Devoika, wow, that is the awesmest link anyone has ever given me! Im’ always worried about the possibility of customs holding the books though with the very lame excuse of them being worried about “a business en devour”. What did you get them shipped with? Express? Or regular mail?

Faris, I have a feeling thats not about censorship as much as it is about power-tripping :)

    Roba… No normal mail… and they are delivered to our department secretary’s office… no customs… nothing… !

That’s a great list that you put up there, Roba. On our website we have a directory of many of Amman’s restaurants (with their menus), cinemas, etc, and we’re always expanding it to include more helpful information. We included the ones you so generously provided here, too.

So, next time you’re searching for a number, maybe we can help: http://www.play.jo/directorypage

    Hello dears,

I went searching for a sold-out book that day but I was not able to find it anywhere. However I finally found it in the Jordan Book Center, the good news is that they have excellent customer service and I find their prices cheaper than other book stores.

I’ve been searching for six books in most of the bookstores but none was found

    * Prime Megastore Bookshop … the books i wanted are now censored and they are good with fake promises (wait for the next shipment…we will get what you want)
    * The Good Bookshop……Censored by the church

and i want to add another one to ur list whichs * Virgin MegaStores and they have old printed copies and most of the books are about cooking, self improvement and howtoputmakeup.

Thanks for L.Kleinrock….we can find most of what we want….
