6. Appalled

According to Dictionary.com

Are any of these on your list?

Try this game: Remember four words at a time and type them into your
notepad, to see if you get any of these wrong. When I read them, I was
like “Snort, these are so easy.” I ended up misspelling “Prerogative”
(spelled it as perogative) and “Inadverent” (spelled it as inadvertant)
:)

Do you get them all right?

I spelled them all right, except inadvertently which I -inadvertently – spelled ‘inadvertantly’ :-P

Many people misspell genius as ‘genious’.
BTW, was the misspelling of the title intended?

  • hannah

I incorrectly spell about half of those words about half the time – I comfort myself with the fact that I can’t spell in any language, not just my native language! BTW, did you mean to mis-spell inadvertent in your next-to-last paragraph? =P

  • ahmad

i still can’t write Wednesday without the help of a dictionary and misspell two too many times so i’m gonna spare myself the humiliation of tryin

Jeeez, I most definitaly did! As a genious, I’d be embarassed and appaled if I didn’t! Sorry, I can sometimes inadvertantly become pretentius with people with no persaverense.

I always rely on my spell checker for ‘inadvertently’ and ‘permanent’. Thanks to Mozilla I spelled ‘em correctly here :)

Yasmin, it wasn’t intended :D How funny is that!

Hannah, my title was a misspell, but thankfully, inadvertent was not :P

Ahmad, hahaha, thank god for dictionaries!

    Y, I like YOU :)

AG, “inadvertently” seems to be a winner!

Chris, haha, awesome paragraph. My friend Y and I always play this game called the “-ation” game, which we try to speak long sentences with everything ending in “-ation”. I think you might enjoy that :P

ExpatInSaudi, thank god for Firefox :) Best invention ever, spellchecker aside.

At the risk of coming off as a spelling snob; how the hell can so many people misspell genius?!

It would be interesting to compile a list of most incorrect usages of words, and most incorrect words (eg. words that people invent on their own!).
