I bought them as shoes to go into the Dead Sea), but I'm not giving up my hideously, ridiculously ugly crocs! Teehee.Oh, and I'm with Heba on the gladiator style sandals. I agree that Western tourists generally look like unimaginative slobs while hanging out in the region and the clunky velcro and rubber footwear does not help. (Yes, sadly, this is how many of them dress at home as well). However, when walking serious distances in warm weather, having a good, quality shoe is important and the 'American Sports Sandal' is the best thing for job.
