Attention span: two seconds.
This amazing video is of a 9-month-old baby at play.
It’s really quite fascinating, especially when looking at it while keeping in mind how an adult spends his “playtime.”
If I were to illustrate me surfing the web, for example, in the same sort of style, it would probably look similar. Gmail. Toss away. New tab, digg. Play for a bit. Get bored. Boing Boing. Scroll down. Nothing interesting anymore. Facebook. A little longer. toot. Other websites that it leads to. Gmail again. Toss away. Look up from my screen and look out the window. Resume.
I work the same way, juggling between windows, activities, tools, softwares. I juggle between books, chapters, paragraphs. I guess that just confirms my brother Omar’s theory that I am just a baby locked up in an adult’s body.
There’s something so solid about lack of concentration. While my mind jumps to and from unrelated elements, I discover so many inspirations that I otherwise wouldn’t have discovered. I can also sit for longer hours, because with doing so many things at once, it’s really hard to get bored.
