When it comes to delicious icecream. Gerard is definitely the best place in town. Their countless icecream flavors will surely satisfy everyone, and each flavor is as delicious as the other. They also have a large variety of non-icecream items such as crepes, coffee, and chocolate fondues, as well Arabic specialty drinks like Sahlab.

We absolutely love this place. One of the first icecream shops of its kind to open in Amman, Gerard has definitely become a staple of Ammanite culture.

Personally recommended flavors:
Cheesecake and Kinder.

    What’s wrong with the satff.
I haven’t been there since 2004, but until then the ice-cream dudes were great, they’d never hesitate to let you taste all the falvors

Do they still make Sahlab in Ramadan?

Thanks Ruba. I’ve also heard from a couple of people that the ice cream shop at Vy is just as good if not better. Perhaps you can check it our for us in one of your later endeavours!

I like the frozen yogurt they have, but most of the other flavors are just too sweet, lazy cake, double chocolate, cheesecake, fudge, etc….

I’d rather have that stuff at a patisserie (like Chez Hilda in Sweifieh).

Gerard barely has any fruity flavors. From the ones they have Apple tree, and pink grapefruit sorbet (which they don’t make very often) are pretty good. Apple tree is great next to apple pie (which you have to order elsewhere, Mirabelle makes a delicious one if you ask them to reduce the filling by about 50% than their normal).

Gerard also make a pretty good bananna split. They always run down to the market to get the bannanas ! but make sure you tell them what you want on it otherwise they’ll put all the garnishes they have on it and it’ll taste like plastic.

hmm I’m not the biggest fan of Gerard’s (as you know Roba), but I admit they’ve got a good collection of flavors – but still nothing beats VY’s chocolate fudge or yogurt ice creams ;)

please review TGI Friday’s or I will!! We had a disastrous lunch there today, and I’ll gladely share my experience with you! Needless to say I won’t be going there ever again. Next stop Fuddruckers…

would you consider startign a new blog for the review thing exclusivly?

first i am sure its going to be a big project soon this project of yours, a lot of people have been looking for that sort of reviews. if you put them in a seperate blog then it would be more organized, in a year you will have a small book that covers alot of the good places in amman! you can print it even! :D and you will have a defined “ratings and reviews” blog that people will want to visit when they feel like going out without having to go through all your posts here to find the reviews, and also i think your writings are very interesting they should not be interupted with the reviews, you know what i mean?

    just a suggestion :)

Khalid Jarar, I think when enough material has accumulated, a book might be a good idea, in any case, reviews already have a separate category, so if you only want to see the reviews, open this url:

Gerard is my favourite place in Jordan.

    No no, in the world.

I feel about ice cream like other people feel about their significant others.

And I like Gerard better than Vy ice cream – there; I’ve said it.
