Reviewing the Amman city scene

Due to the sheer amount of places to go in Amman as well as their ultimate offline status, my friend and I have decide to start a sort of scene review of Ammanite outeries.

I say outeries, not eateries, because this review will not be confined to restaurants, but will generally try to put online a sort of “idea-board” for those looking for a place to hangout in Amman. To be more on spot with your needs, we will also “pin” the outeries with certain features, such as whether they are outdoors or not, whether they serve argeeleh, and whether they have live music. To satisfy our more conservative readers, we will also have an alert button when the places serve alcohol.

We will try to keep the reviews short and sweet, rating out of 5 each outery in what we personally consider the most important aspects:

Taste, style, crowd/ambiance, price, parking, argeeleh goodness, bathroom cleanliness, and staff hospitality.

So keep your eyes out for the reviews!

Thanks God in My village there are three restaurants and i know they prepare Falafel and humus. Two of them do not have chairs or table to eat on it.
I really find funny when I read your poster and do comparisons with life in countryside. You deserve to be labeled as city boys.

A pot? That’s how you symbolize Arabic food? And I don’t supposed it would help to include an icon indicating that non-smoking sections are available. I only know of two restaurants in Jordan and provide that option.

ishi fakher 3al akher..so what would the shoe of approval suggest? inno el ma7al tage3/khawa/or boo?

somewhere in my surreal mind there’s an image of a white closet somewhere in your house..full with rows after rows of red converse trainers, like that episode of the simpsons when we see marge’s closet, and its full of the same green dress she wears.

I badly need this review. I still gaze for around 15 minutes before Id ecide to which place I can take a guest from outside Jordan and meet his/here expectations. This review will be an awsome idea. Please focus on places where people can set and talk without the pollution of singers’ voices.

  • Saned

Oh and can you mention places where the waiters don’t glare at you while you are sitting and chatting after you paid the bill/finished eating!

FINALLY!! I wanted to ask you in a personal Mail if you could tell me some nice places to hang out in Amman cause i visit Amman every Year but i get to see is my Family in 2 Jabals…. and if i am lucky… i see the city centre…. but now if you put some reviews on my next visit to Amman will be exciting!!!

perhaps if you put some time in it and do a nice job a big Web 2.0 Company comes and buys the homepage from you to build a big AMMAN CITY REVIEW Homepage and pays you 23 Billion Dollars… just like facebook and youtube and all the others…

    SO GOOD LUCK !!!
AND MOST IMPORTANT: HAVE FUN !!!

Hey, I live in the states and I visit every summer. I am so glad you kids came up with something like this because I always find it difficult to find nice places to spend the evening in, other than the hole in the wall places filled with old men:)

Just found your blog while I was searching for tips for Amman in May. Really well done! And I LOVE your rating system. Very iPhone-like. I sent you an email separately about potentially meeting up while I’m visiting. Would be great to hang out with a like-minded foodie!
