    No
WE are dying, the “older” bloggers.
We’ve lost something, it’s getting increasingly dull, for me at least.
But new blood is pumping in blogging’s vein every day.
    Blogging shall remain forever young.

for a while now I say I want to return to blogging and to that community of Jordanian bloggers.. but I’m just not motivated enough.. I check some blogs every now and then.. everything is sooo different now.. I was really interested in this whole thing 2 years ago.. now.. i really dont know..
to see your post today I was like yee so it’s not only in my head!!! When people ask about the reason I stopped blogging.. I say I dont like the theme aw I cant find the time aw I dont have daily internet access in Irbid.. but when I come to think of it.. it’s just I have no motive to continue blogging.. I hope it’s just a phase..
blogging is not dying.. it’s just taking a nap :)

Slowing down, maybe, but certainly not dying.

Roba, we all go through phases, as readers and as writers. Sometimes we lost interest for a while, or our posts become passionless, but then it changes overnight. There will always be bloggers with that excitement and ability to capture a moment. Blogging will never die. Even if Facebook is taking up more of our time!

    i don’t think so , there’s always a new bloggers
new event , new things , just it need some one to blog about it

i see it more power now than it before two years

at least when u say BLOG they know what do u mean about it ,

I think you can find there are a lot of people want to have a blog rather than reading other blogs.

There is also other reason to not find people interested in blogging in Jordan because some of Blogger are coward to talk about the taboo issues like Egyptian blogger .

It is dead to me as a blogger… still alive as a reader… but its not the same anymore.

i know where ur coming from…i think we’re in a phase where it’s the “survival of the fitest” with blogs i.e only the exciting blogs with new material and never ending change are being visited by readers..there’s no more room for stupid one day wonder blogs.
and also, i’ve noticed this decrease in the number of ppl who comment..i guess it’s not cool anymore to comment too!!

As non-blogging reader, it seems to me that there’s a veritable explosion of new blogs. Maybe too much of a good thing? It’s impossible to try and keep up with them all, and in many cases it’s not not even possible to keep up with all the good ones.

The Iraqi bloggers started losing their previously massive readership about 2 years ago. I think people (readers) ran out of things to say, and also a lot of people pretty much lost interest. Maybe that’s happening now in other categories. But I suspect there will always be hot new topics. Next time something truly big happens, maybe.

Interesting answers. I personally believe that if not “dying” in terms of quantity, it is definitely dying in terms of quality, especially with the hoards of new and very useless blogs. It is losing the special “alternative media” feel it had 2 years ago.

this is typical consumer mentality … Discover – Overuse – Get Bored – Move On … now the hype is gone … and people who really use blogs in a useful way will continue …

excuse me , but not all bloggers have what it takes to maintain a blog and keep it amusing … not enough creative energy …

i mainly read blogs to stay in touch with the jordanian society because am an expat … and i blog out of boredom most of the time … not denying that its nice to have a space where people can look into my head … and i want to more because i have too much to say abt alot of things … but since i blog from work i dont have that much time for longer posts … maybe when i get my own connection i can talk about more topics … and maybe create new blogs !!!!

BTW ROBA : u have a very nice blog … dont think of shutting it down :)

I wouldn’t say dying, but I think it’s fading slowly. Not that there is no bloggers anymore or interesting blogs or so, but I think it’s because of the new rush of having a blog!

It’s taking another form, and other technologies such as social networks and twitter-like-services are competing with it

Well, it’s not as cool as it was when it started, that’s for sure!,it’s getting more boring and far less interesting, to an extent I think it may fade out pretty soon, and then the world will be at ease, as bloggers brought so much headach to the world!

no way, my blog is kicking ass!!

In Jordan the answer is yes because the majority of bloggers do not represent the majority of Jordanians

In the US it is not, many blogs are taken very seriously and being watched by different news media and politicans.

Roba, I agree with regards to the declining quality of blogs, rather than the quantity. Sometimes it takes a lull like this to get things going again.

As long as bloggers post real news, everything is good. It’s some of these inane blogs lately that are giving blogging a bad name. I suspect that the “everyone blogging” fad will pass soon. At least, I hope it does…
