From A to B

The first paragraph of page 103 of the ex-library book that I’m reading says, “When I was a child I never had a fantasy about having a maid, what I had a fantasy about having was candy. As I matured that fantasy translated itself into ‘make money to have candy, because as you get older, of course, you get more realistic.”

That got me thinking about fantasies. I think my ultimate fantasy is success, on different levels in life. Success was always my fantasy, even as a child.

Whats your fantasy now and what was your fantasy as a child?

Well Roba , science people have have a well-known way of thinking refers to (problem solving thinking), which means they set what they want, and they figure out procedures to get that thing done. While literature guys tend to dream or write poems about that, science guys tend to figure out practically how could it be done in the real world.
So even if someone was a grownup, we have to question his/her character: Literature or scientific?
Ultimately, for everyone, the general fantasy is what makes him/her happy, and this is relative, depending on circumstances of each. If you ask a guy in poor country, he would say money, and if you ask a prince , his fantasy is to loose weight and become smart. In america, completing insurances . In Saudi Arabia, girls :) etc

Couldn’t resist commenting.. the anti-spam word is “far” and i had to say…. Awaayyy. Plus the fact i couldn’t resist commenting about the two above…

Science dude above.. didn’t blurt out his fantasy the simple way “literature” people do.. my hunch: wanted to be einstein, grew up to have awesome hair with no relation to relativity whatsoever, ended up having the fantasy of being the new Freud.

Yaseen… jealousy complex followed by self esteem issues. Moving along swiftly. ;)

As a child.. wanted to be in space, meet martians, and discover new planets. My fantasy now was to write new worlds with such aliens, planets. With that done, did what science dude churned out a couple of lines above, combined the two ways ended up being a SCI-FI writer.

    Hey Roba! Interesting post.

I won’t talk about my fantasies because I think a fantasy is like a business idea; If you really want to see it come true, stop talking about it and work on it!

I’m currently reading a book titled “Stumbling on Happiness”, which starts by stating that humans are the only animals that try to invision and predict the future. The first chapter talks about how we humans spend so much time and effort fantasizing about where and what we want to be in the future, thinking that “that” will make us happy.

It claims it is not a self help book, because it is aimed at enabling people to know why they are or are not happy, but not how to change that.

Based on the thoguhts you’re having, I think you’ll find it’s an interesting read.
