Cosy Wi-Fi Help

Anyone knows of any cozy cafes (think along the lines of Starbucks) in Amman that offer free Wi-Fi? Or cheap Wi-fi… Preferably around the Abdoun/Shmesani/Jabal Amman/Weibdeh area. Thanks!

Check out the December issue of JO, they have a guide to places with cheap Wi-Fi in Amman… I’m at Books@ right now and their free WiFi is great. Librairie de Paris in Weibdeh also has very cheap WiFi… you can also try Graphic Club, which is this new cafe in Sweifieh (I know I hate Sweifieh too)…

Hmmmm… Living Room has free Wireless… Barney’s has free wireless… I wish Duinde had wireless ;) I want more places with couches rather than charis and tables…

The situation of free wi-fi in Jordan is really not all that great to be quite frank with you.
I’ve had a horror story with Books@cafe, other places are not as reliable, Starbucks doesnt allow roaming. The whole wifi deployments situation seem to be a juvenile one at best.
I hope things get better, but for now, these half baked solutions is all you can hope for
I am actually thinking of coming back to Amman, and starting my own Wifi consultancy firm, since it’s obvious that many (including major ISPs) have no idea what it takes to run a good reliable service… but I’m not absolutely sure about that yet.

Roba, with your permission I would like to Answer Ammar, I hope you don’t mind.

Ammar, yes, JP is being put to sleep, meanwhile you can continue to follow the Jordanian Blogs using Jordan Blogs a fantastic endeavor by Khalid or you may use Qwaider Planet for interesting blogs that are not necessarily Jordanian.
You may also use iToot for handpicked blogs also around the Arabic culture.
Other places that you might wanna check are Dwwen and Sawtona they both have Jordanian blogs in them

Here is an updated list from Ahmad’s blog:

Yeah it’s free at Books@Cafe, yet beware of viruses, make sure your firewall is On, their staff won’t offer any help, they’ll simply tell you it’s your laptop which is screwed up!

If you are working on a project or something, Abd El Hameed Shooman is your best shot! Though you can’t work in groups, anyways lots of good looking girls in Med school….oops I just got carried away…Never mind.

Books@cafe is only free till 6 PM
Roba, I have couple of wanadoo cards I got from them and never went back after the “incident” I’ll scratch them off and email them to you … (use them after 6 when it becomes paid only)
