J’adore Paris
I just finished my two day trip to France, or, not really, as I’m typing this on the plane back to Amman.
I fell in love with France; I know I tend to fall in love with most of the things I do, but no seriously, this place is special. The city was a lot more different than I expected it to be, as I somehow had an “Ooh-la-la” image of it that was totally shattered by the vintageness of the place (though I was told that the stereotypical “Ooh-la-la” France does exist).
The people are also absolutely lovely; sweet, warm, hospitable, and well, hot. I was lucky that all human factions that I dealt with were just fantastic people. The team of Buzz Paradise went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our time. The team of France 24 were keen on showing us what their new news channel is all about, and although I was expecting a show-and-tell ride around the facility, it was pleasantly surprising that they had planned a much more interactive way of integrating the visitors (us) into the environment. I even got to make my very first video podcast, which I know will suck, but hey, when will I ever get the chanced to record one with a professional TV crew and their high-tech cameras? More about that experience later as it deserves its own post. The international group of bloggers that were also a part of the project were also wonderful.
They really were 3 of the best days in a long time, well, aside from the Air France experience. If I ever hear anyone complain about Royal Jordanian ever again I’m going to have a piss fit; they are heavenly when compared to Air France. On the way to Paris, the flight was 30 minutes late in taking off and then when we finally got to the destination, it took them 50 minutes to get off the plane. On the way from Paris, the attendant would say a message that “Oh, excuse us, we’re going to need another 15 minutes because this and that” every 20 minutes. It’s like, WHAT? They also don’t offer vegetarian meals.
I arrived in Paris at around 2:00 PM, and naturally, the first thing I did, before I met anyone or changed my clothes was well, I’m sure you guessed it; The Louver.
Wow, a treasure! For someone like myself (obsessed with the finer arts in life to a quiet unhealthy degree), visiting the Louver was a mindblowing experience. Being in the company of Davids, Bottetchilis, Renoirs, Da Vincis, and other masterpieces including those of antiquities was just an amazing experience. Looking first hand at the brush strokes of Degas, the colors of Roberts, and the depth of Delacroix is ahh.. amazing. I spent my first 6 hours in Paris at the Louver and the area around it. That’s the beauty of traveling alone- I can do whatever I want.
It is unfortunate that I didn’t get a chance to visit post-modern art galleries though, as post-modern art is my real passion. Yalla, next time perhaps.
As for now, I haven’t slept in like 72 hours, unless you count the 2 hours I slept on Friday, so I better go catch some ZZZ’s. More tomorrow, when I have my full (well ok, most) of my mental abilities.
Au revoir.
Did you enjoy this? Be awesome and share:
