blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah

So Jordan announced that tomorrow is the final day of Ramadan, while many other Muslim countries (dare I say most?) are celebrating the first day of Eid tomorrow.
The guy who announces these things on tv is terrible at it. He talks and talks and talks about God and the sky and the scientists and judgement day and good actions and Muslims and Jordan and the Quran and the poor and great and the Hashemites and every single other topic in this world for 20 minutes before he says the two words everyone is waiting to hear. Ya3ni why the anticipation? It’s not a thriller, is it?
So yeah, one more day.

You are 100% right on target …

He could have summarized it all in couple of seconds … who cares about when, how or where they searched for the Hilal? Just say the result w khalas …

I have to wonder though … why do we abide by Saudi timing when it comes to 7ajj (Pilgremage) and we do not take their time into consideration when it comes to Ramdan and Eid?
If we follow them for 7ajj; I think we should follow them for everything else? why does each country search for its own Hilal? or is this applicaple only for ramadan and the rest of the year, we follow KSA??

    Wallah ishi be7ayyer :S

That guy was trying to give an importance to what he has to say ;) and new way of saying things on JTV, but one positive thing about it we are one unique country amon the few who will celebrate EID Ibn Um Saeed after tomorrow :P

Since it has no fixed date, and it relies on humans I see no problem that all Muslim countries can’t agree on a single day.

Happy Eid, it’s just another extra day.

    Roba
Yeah it has to do with the Arabic speeches, you must have all these fancy phrases and talk as if you are going to war. You know, it should be full of anticipation, so for the next 20 min you’ll be:Is it Eid or not? So can I finally enjoy that Falafel sandwish with “him” under the trees?I wanna wear that new pair of sandals….so much excitment.

Now do you remember when the director of the French hospital, held a press confrence, and he appeared wearing his full uniform with all his medals and fancy ranks. All he got to say was : Mr.Arafat is not Dead, thank you! Even John Stewart had something to say about this guy.

I vote for 30min speeches, it’s really good if you are writing an Arabic term paper, useful for Tawjihi kids in Arabic language.

We are going to have the feast – Eid – on Tuesday here in Egypt too. The problem with those who have the Eid tomorrow is that they started Ramadan one day early, so they were forced to have the Eid this way. Anyway, Happy Eid to you all over there.

Khalida, first of all, there is some politics to this, we wont celebrate EID with Qatar. Additionally, for some reason, the timing of the first day of ramadan at KSA was incorrent. I guess if a mad preson is ready to take an oath, then they announce Ramadan. Other month ares decided astrologically . in yesterdays newspaper, if you watch sun set timing, you would know that Ramadan is 30 days this year, go back to the section where Imsak information is mentioned, you would notice that sun set is at 6.00 and moon vanishing time is 5:58 meaning that due to sun rays still around while the moon is vanishing, (and the moon being a baby at that time) it becomes impossible to spot the moon. The only way to see the moon when it it so so shy and very yound is when there is significant darkness. Remeber that we can sometimes see the moon in the evening (before sun set) but only when it already well formed.
Result: I did not really have to listen to the news bullitin to know. and i do not know what the Saudi’s saw last month, probably 3utared and not the moon

hope this is helpful for the future

Ammar … Thank you for the info, I am not sure this is going to help me understand why we cannot unite the calendar for everyone in this region … we are not that far apart in location but ehhh, we have to accept it as it is .. sa7?

    Happy Eid in advance :)
