Distorted Evolution

+ Advertising/Design Goodness

Though I love playing with the magic of make-up and Photoshop, I thought this video was highly amusing. I guess it’s the fast pace, the immediate change, the beat of the music… and of course the whole idea of distorted beauty, which is really fascinating on a level on its own.

i love how Dove is only focusing on the inner beauty.

The dove campaign is a good one in theory, but in practice most women will opt for the photoshoped, air-brushed, distorted version of beauty. It’s human nature to be more facinated with that which is fabricated.

Amazing!! Absolutely amazing! No wonder I always saw those pictures as a little bit freakishly too beautiful

    Thanks Roba

Well i salute the fact that Dove came up with this campaign, for real beauty,
but they just can’t deny the fact that their Washy washy Oh-Dove made me perfect women that popped throughout their campaigns are heavily airbrushed or have on tonnes of make up.

We’ve always knew how much those women in printed media and other get heavinly shopped, nothing new ya3ni, bass I like the time lapse on the transformation.

And this video is being everywhere! Mark’s, Ad, w a couple more!

    *opens photoshop*
    I could show you a photo I photoshopped you’ll be shocked! ;D

Exactly what Nas said, I mean its no different than real life, Just as most girls use makeup wich is the reality equivilant of Photoshop, its human nature, its what the girls want, can you seriously tell me that a girl would rather go out looking less pretty if she can look more beautiful?
Maybe its distortion, but its a pleasant one, I’m all for natural beauty, but you know how the sayin goes, zyadet il khair khairain, moo haik? :)

  • http://hareega.blogspot.com hareega

I love the distorted beauty, it’s more attractive :D

    Interesting.
Though nothing beats up Fox News ;-)
Yeah, actually most people featured in any Jordanian ad are in most cases “light ” skinned.
Voice Distortion? Thanks to that we have now Haifa Wahbe, Paris Hilton( I’m aware that her album was actually praised).

    What Hareega said :D

Someone should invent photoshop glasses that do this in real time.

It will be the number one selling gift that women buy for their spouses for Christmas!

I`v seen it just after fatour isn`t it nice…i wonder if i could inhance a picture of mine like that….ok found 1…
    let`s see….what do i have to change….hmmmmmmmmmm
    nothing!! I`m just perfect ;P
Anyway, that just proves that men are honest and (shallow)…and admire beauty.

  • http://www.iread.blogspot.com manal y

Well bakkouz, Nas and the rest, some girls choose to go out looking less pretty, we are not that shallow, to be deinded by our looks, it is degrading to say other than that.

as one said ” No matter what a woman looks like, if she’s confident, she’s sexy.”

rememebr that next time you meet a girl.

  • http://www.iread.blogspot.com manal y

to be defined* by our looks

  • http://iman-a.com Iman

    It’s kinda neat…and I agree with bakkouz ….

come on ladies, who wouldn’t wanna look this ‘perfect’ from time to time…

Make-up and push-up bras have always been a women’s secret weapon. (Not that I’m against either of those things, mind you.) Likewise, Photoshop is the secret weapon of advertising agencies everywhere.

Take a look at Greg Apodaca’s portfolio. Most of his examples have a before-and-after rollover effect. Especially check out this one and this one for some fairly extreme examples of where a photo can be taken.

    Hareega,

Good one. I got a good laough out of it.

    Roba,
Here’s my favorite commentary on this ad! I really like the idea & hope suggested in the last sentence of it:

Yaaaah! This is just mind-boggling. I watched the video 3 times in a row to be able to fully comprehend the change. True I knew that women’s images in ads and mags get brushed, but I never imagined it is to this extent.
No one claims that the finished product is not more appealing to the eye, but the whole point is that it is fake. The problem comes when men and women hold these fake images as ideals to strive for. It is devilish brain washing, and unfortunately many women are resorting to plastic surgery in real life to achieve what photoshop does. The results are many times freakish.

    What the…
Did you see that?! Did you see how they lengthened the neck?! Look at how they widen the spot beneath the brows! Wow really amusing! I kept replaying and replaying and replaying….

  • http://yanalcreations.blogspot.com BigDaddy

They show all the stages in a little more than a minute, the image doctoring takes more than 14-16 constant working hours (The productivity level differs than our Jordanian perception of efficiency), anyways the photo shooting takes around 6 hours, the make up and hair styling takes 2. And yet no one appreciates our efforts to show some beauty in this disgusting world, and by the way Dove sucks they’re trying to get us out of the business.
