Pure Mahogany Auburn *UPDATED*

Well, that’s what the tub of dye that I just poured over my hair says anyway.

This is the first attempt since my teenage “crazy” years to dye my hair at home- and even when I do dye it at a salon, I go with natural brown (picture of me with my usual hair color). I guess the shade should be more mahogany then auburn as my current hair color is dark… It’s sort of scary.

So yeah, totally holding my breath as I wait for the next 10 minutes to pass before I rinse the color off. I hope it’s not too dark or too light…

I wouldn’t have minded if it was slightly brighter, but this shade is definitely cool. I’m guessing it’ll be a lot brighter in daylight. I think it’s perfect for the upcoming winter season.

For the women interested in obtaining such a color (for future Googling referencing), I used L’oreal Feria Pure Mahogany Auburun, color P55 on brown hair.

    This IS freaky … I just sent a few friends msgs expressing how I should do something drastic with my hair! and as I take my foodless lunch break, I decide to browse through your blog (which I enjoy, sometimes :P), and what do I see!?! this post! should I take this as a sign and go out and dye my hair blonde?

    ok except, my shade promised “dark golden brown” right? Yeah, I got nothing but the dark. Golden and brown just decided not to show up. I do not know what is wrong with my hair. Seriously. ye555 Does it enjoy looking like it got beauty advice from Morticia addams…?
    Ah, yes. Lest I forget, the awful awful ghastliness 2 days later. You know those sandy fried- been in the sun too long bedouin and/or yemeni girls you occaisionally spot along traffic lights and various malls in riyadh either begging or selling you henna/kohl? yes. that’s what i look like to this day.

    Qweider, I wore it blue once. It was fun. It fades quickly though, and becomes white-blonde. Not much fun.

    only in case she used to be platinium blonde
    to become jet black! hehehe

    You need to think about Pink streaks within this

    Hala, lol, yeah, I’m glad I got it done at home too. My mom was trying to talk me out of it, but then I went ahead and yay. I like the results.

    Red Enclave, this is actually the first time I try L’oreal homecolor kits in recent years :)

    Omar, 3adi, I can never tell either. I can’t tell haircuts too for the matter. And red? Today I saw this awesome haircut at JU.. a girl had her hair black with red streaks at the ears and beneath her bangs. I thought it was awesome. But when I expressed interest my friends practically chocked me.

    Interested, nope, none whatsoever. It just goes with the design.

    Roba, it looks awesome. I love it.

    I did the same thing a few years ago. I just wanted red highlights so I put the mix in different places without really paying attention. I wasn’t even in front of a mirror.
    I was supposed to leave it on for 15 minutes, but I fell asleep and woke up two hours later. Thank god my hair is already dark otherwise I would’ve had even stranger results :)

    I did the same thing 6 weeks ago and was thrilled with the result. I had never colored my hair and was completly afraid. But once I had done it I loved it and it was nice for a change.

    Next I will try orange red

    I love Mahogany Brown! It’s my favorite shade and looks great on me. It’s looks dark in the indoors, but outdoors I love the bronzy look it gives me out in the sun. It’s a versatile color that I can live with and love.
