Pop it – a bottlecap love ode

Pepsi is one of my favorite top 10 things in the entire world. I still haven’t thought of the other 9, but Pepsi certainly belongs in that list.

No one could possibly imagine the amount of Pepsi consumed in this household on a daily basis, to the utter dismay of my dad, who is keen on sending me forwards on how Pepsi rots the bones and how Pepsi is used as toilet flush. But man, I love that stuff. It’s my answer to everything. Depressed? Get a liter of Pepsi and pour the depression away. Thirsty? Ahhh, ice and Pepsi. Sick? Pepsi feels like it’s cleaning everything away with it’s popping soda power.

And when I say Pepsi, I mean the type that comes in the cold, hard scratched up glass bottles you return for refills. You know, the ones with a lot more sugar and soda than the plastic bottles and the ones that actually don’t taste like aluminum (ok, this sounds better in Arabic- that ones that don’t taste like tanak). The ones with a bottlecap.

Lion, witches and glitter, OH MY

The above three paragraphs were triggered by these wonderfully cute bottlecap magnets. Bottlecaps! How very pop art.
*Thinking of all the cool stuff I could do with the gazillion bottlecaps we have around the house*

    Roba,
Sorry if I came off sounding like I was attacking. I was concerned more than anything. But I am sure you hear it all the time from your dad so I shouldn’t have said anything! :)

Hi guys, I’m an anonymous addict to Pepsi Max. Do you have that in Jordan? I know you’ve got Diet Pepsi but I don’t know if that’s the same as Pepsi Max, just with a different name or something close… Both are sugar free anyway.

Anybody else who wants to confess addiction to Pepsi Max anonymously..?

Roba, don’t call drinking Pepsi bad habit – it’s not bad LOL.

  16. Tareq, oh, yeah, it’s awesome isn’t it?! I love the repacking.. I blogged about it a while back already though ;)

  17. Anon, I’ve never had Pepsi Max.. tha’ts the energy drink right? yeah, I’ve seen it around, but I usually opt for regular Pepsi. will try it when i see it next time :)

Roba, no, it’s not an energy drink, it’s Pepsi without sugar. In my country (a European one) we don’t have Diet Pepsi at all but we do have Pepsi and Pepsi Max (plus some other Pepsi brands). However, in the Middle East countries I’ve visited I’ve seen just Diet, no Max, so I think it must be the same one just with a different name.

It’s addictive. Sometimes I accidentally buy ‘normal’ Pepsi (I don’t always check the labels carefully enough) and immediately see the difference.

The problem, however, is that I’ve only seen it in bottles of 0.5 and 1.5 litres. With my limited artistic imagination (Roba, I’ve been enviously and with admiration following your blog…) I couldn’t make art of that kind of plastic caps… Help anyone?!?

    Greetings,

Anonymous Pepsi Max addict (who’s ashamed of turning a discussion on arts into soft drink brands…)

P.S. No, Pepsi Co. is not paying me a commission if their market share in Jordan suddenly increases LOL.
